The theme of this work is male vulnerability. Using pearls to imitate tears is not only aesthetic but also shows the preciousness of tears. Through this work, I want to show the fragile side of men, which is often neglected by society. I hope these photos can break the male stereotypes that the media usually portrays: men are stoic and unsentimental. Boys cry too. It is wrong to think that showing negative emotions through tears is weak. Knowing how to show vulnerability comfortably is a precious strength.

Red is a color of passion and desire. The choice of shooting this project on black and white 35mm film shifts the focus of the color ‘red’ to the actions of making passionate love by capturing the details of the couple’s facial features and hand gestures to embody the physical and emotional intensity.

Notably, the drop back paper used was in saturated crimson red, which had turned grey on b&w film.
